“Serving Boone, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Kane, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago Counties in Illinois ”
OUR MISSION The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a network of friends inspired by Gospel values, growing in holiness and building a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need.
Giving Thanks
I have received many blessings in my life and understand that “Each one of us has received a special grace, so like good stewards responsible for all these varied graces of God, put it at the service of others (1 Peter 4:10). With these special graces, we are able to serve our neighbors in need with the same love and compassion that we receive from God.
During this Thanksgiving, let's give thanks for all of our blessings of faith, family, and friends.
Your Servant Leader, Susan
THANKSGIVING 2022 The Hard Road James Lee, Spiritual Advisor, Central District
I am grateful for a wonderful journey Walking a road with many twists and turns Facing bitter cold and warm sun Feeling a presence pushing me on
Facing sleepless nights Visits from the Spirit during the fourth watch Planting seeds of hope and promise To be realized not now but maybe later
A life filled with joy and sadness Walking the narrow beam Sometimes falling off But willing to sally forth
Hoisting the anchor Sailing the rough seas Learning the skills to navigate Coming home safely
Learning early Not to pray for an easy life Pray to be a strong person Know that God loves me
Grateful for my God walking with me Holding my hand Enabling me to discover realizations One at a time
